I'll buy an OEM DVD of Windows 8 from NewEgg and load it on my laptop. I prefer a laptop over a tablet.

YES, I'll be getting the Surface, hopefully a Pro, but RT will be fine as well. I'm still waiting to see what Nokia comes up with, but some W8 tablet for sure :)
Then the kids/wife can have the iPad :D

My mind is set on the Surface Pro; unless between now and when the Pro is released in the UK Nokia bring something X86 just as good.....

I will be upgrading my parents desktop from Vista to Win 7. I always stay a version behind for them in hopes that most of the bugs have been killed. For me, I will not be getting anything new until something breaks, which I don't expect to happen any time soon.

If the Surface Pro comes to Australian retailers, then I'll sure be taking a hard look at it.

I have been waiting to gut and upgrade my PC for Windows 8. So that is the plan. Then, OF COURSE I will have to buy a new WP 8 of some sort (Nokia or Samsung) to allow for full use of the ecosystem. Than, OF COURSE sometime I will have to get a WP 8 laptop or Tablet, depending on prices and power and such for when traveling so there is a PC experience always at the fingertips.....

Getting an ultrabook with Windows 8

I will be upgrading my windows 7 laptop to windows 8 pro once it comes out.... Probably stick with my iPad as a tablet until either it dies or the surface pro comes down in price. iPad > surface RT, iPad < Surface Pro..... IMHO

I've got my iPad 2 on eBay this week, for this very reason. I've just grown rather bored with iOS in general, and given that I enjoy WP7 so much, figure I'll give Surface a try. It'll be interesting to see how it compares.

It depends on price. If the surface rt costs like $600 and there is a tablet that will get the job done priced at $400 the surface will be tough to justify. If the surface is priced at $400-500 it will be hard to resist.
However, I love 7-8" tablets so if there is a reasonably priced (<$400) one at that size I'm all in.
