Ativ S... My favorite WP8 device.

I must say that my Ativ S is not only my favorite WP8 device but my favorite mobile device overall.

On the other side, the variability in the quality of the Qualcomm SOC is also affecting the Ativ S. In our office 50% of our Ativ S running the exact same firmware and software have a problem where the display crashes while you view things... You only need to push the Windows button to resume, but it is annoying.

I am starting to be convinced that all SOCs for WP8 devices should be made by Intel, not Qualcomm, under license to get around Qualcomm's lousy QC.

Windows Phone 8 other storage problem

I have had my Samsung ATIV S for 3 months and the "other" storage has grown to 11GB. My phone has 16GB storage capacity and I only have 250MB free space left. Almost 70% of my phone storage is an unknown category that I can't delete. I calculated that this other storage grows by about 114MB per day, which means that i only have a couple days before my phone runs out of space. What on earth could save 114MB per day? All photos and videos I take are all saved to the SD card. Is there any way to tell what is using this 11GB of space?

Strange behaviour while connected to USB

Is it normal behaviour that when I connect my Ativ S to my computer via USB, it boots itself ? And I mean "full" boot, that is: it asks for PIN to my SIM-card etc.

I now turn off data when I know I will be in areas with bad carrier data connectivity, then my Ativ S does not reboot...

Hey guys,
currys.co.uk claims to have stock for the 32GB ATIV S only. Not the 16GB version. Anyone want to actually try purchasing it? Most likely you can return it if you only get 16GB as it is misleading.

BT Keyboard

Does anyone knows a BT Keyboard which works with the ATIV S I8750? We tried several, they are recognized but do not connect properly.

Handset only recognized as "Windows Phone 8" and no Driver found.

Hello together,

i got my Samsung Ativ S a few Weeks ago.

My Computers don't want do recognice it as ATIV S. Two Windows 8 x64 Laptops and my Windows 8 Desktop are not able to Display the telephone storage or the micro sd-card.
Also the Windows Phone Syncronisation application is not starting neither as Desktop applicaition or Modern-UI-App.

But I think that it's not a problem with the phone because the PC in my company (Windows 8 x64) recogniced the Phone properly.

I tried all tipps from the internet, including installing the driver manually from the windows update library.

I really would love to see my Ativ S working fine with my PCs so im hoping someone can provide me some help.

DIY Qi Wireless charging mod for the Samsung Ativ S for $16.-

I did a small wireless charging mod for my Ativ S some time ago and wanted to share my results with you.

I bought this QI wireless charging Tag receiver from ebay:

The mod was pretty simple, but you have open the phone to solder the charging tag directly to the Micro-USB-Port... Maybe there
are different spots where you can connect the tag... I tried to wire it directly to the battery connectors but the phone didn't realized it was charing.

Also I cut the the tag a little bit down after installation... now it fits perfectly with the original backplate.. I will add a photo when I have a little bit time left...

I'm taking no responsibility if you mod your phone and damage it... Mine is working and charging fine since 1 month... both on cable and on the Nokia charing station..
Everything works like it did before, Battery-life, WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC, Calling, ....

Samsung Ativ S Three UK APN/MMS settings

Hi all,

I recently purchased an Ativ S in the UK from Expansys. I'm with Three UK and MMS/picture messages fail to send or receive...

Checking the APN settings there are 2 APNs - one for Internet and one for MMS.

The MMS settings are as follows:

APN name: 3 MMS
Profile category: mms
MMSC: Three - WiFi
APN: three.co.uk
Auth type: None
Username:
Password
IP type:
Proxy address: 217.171.129.2
Proxy domain: mobile.three.co.uk
Proxy port: 8799
Maximum MMS Size: 300

Does anyone have any idea what the correct settings are? Three UK tech support weren't very helpful as its an unlocked phone - they pointed me to the Network Setup app, which is for Nokia devices only.

Failing that I may try to go into a 3 store and hassle them :wink:

Samsung released a few updated software packages today.
Call blocking, Apn Setup and some of their apps.
This for the unlocked international version.

Strange Ativ S Problem

I was using a 'Reset' Ativ S, yesterday I got me a 'fresh' one. I was having issues with my Skydrive tiles under Photos not updating. I also reformatted my microSD card on my new device, I had formatted it on my 8S before that. Later I noticed some hidden WP8 system files. Now everything works perfectly. I will keep an eye on the reboot issues I had. Maybe my new device will have less of these (because of sudden signal loss). I will, when I have time, re-install my other Ativ S, to figure out if it will still show the same problems with Skydrive.

has anyone or is anyone on at&t here in the states with their ativ s and is able to use internet sharing? I am in a pickle because there is no official Sirius xm app, 3rd party apps no longer work and I use to tether my stiletto to my titan but I don't have that phone anymore. I tried to turn on internet sharing and I get the reject that there is no cellular data connection to share which is bologna because I do have connection
